About Us.

The Ross on Wye Photographic society was formed in 1950 and is probably the largest photography club in the area.  Our membership ranges from those who are relatively new to photography, to those who have been doing photography for many years. Whatever level you are at there is always something to learn.

We meet on a weekly basis every Wednesday evening between the months of September and April.

Throughout the season's programme, we have guest speakers covering as many different aspects of photography as possible. Also we hold a number of members' evenings where we all enjoy seeing what various members have got up to throughout the year.

We also hold 6 internal competitions, where members who wish to, submit a set number of photographs. On these evenings an outside judge goes through the pictures, and gives constructive comments and awards the winners. Competition evenings are very popular when whether you have entered or not all can learn from the judges informative comments.

There are a number of members who actively submit to local, national and international exhibitions and who are often successful with their submission. Where possible, and if enough members wish to, the society also submits as a group. If you have any prints accepted and you go along to the exhibition, you can get quite a buzz to see your picture(s) exhibited.

When possible, outside events are also organised, such as day trips, workshops and seminars.
As you can see it is a very active society and all members have that one thing in common - the love of taking pictures!

New members are always welcome regardless of whether you are a total beginner or more experienced. Those who
have come to us from other clubs have often said how welcome they were made to feel and how quickly they felt to be part of the society.
