BPE Crown Awards.

How does it work? If you submit to any of the listed BPE exhibitions and are lucky enough to have one or more accepted you will gain a point for each accepted picture. Accumulate 25 acceptances (no time limit) submit an application to the BPE it's verified and if correct you can use BPE*1 after your name, and the good bit is there is no cost! ie. annual membership fee. Accumulate 50 gets you BPE*2 etc. etc. All the information is on the BPE web site listed below.

There are 17 exhibitions per year under the umbrella of the BPE (British Photographic Exhibitions).
The list and dates are avaliable on the BPE web site address (click link): http://www.b-p-e.org.uk

PAGB Distinction Awards.

A few members are unsure on the procedure of applying to have a selection of prints assessed for a CPAGB, DPAGB and MPAGB award.
To try and simplify.
1, Make sure you comply with the prequalification criteria of the MCPF, the federation that Ross-on-wye Photographic Society is affilitated to. This information is accessable in the PAGB web site link, http://www.pagb-photography-uk.co.uk then click on "PAGB Merits Awards". The guidence notes are downloadable as a PDF file.
What it means is that you have to have been supporting, i.e.entering (not necessarily had acceptances) exhibitions of clubs affiliated to MCPF for a minimum period for each award. A list of the member clubs can be found on MCPF web site link, http://www.mcpf.co.uk then click on "List of Member clubs". They do not specify how many exhibitions you should have entered but the more that you enter the better idea you will have of the quality of your images. The crowning exhibition that they seem to want listed is Midphot.
2, If you meet the Prequalification criteria, apply to the current MCPF distinction officers for an application form, their details are on the MCPF web site. When the form arrives fill it in and return it back to the officers, they verify your listing as correct, sign it and return it to you with another form for the PAGB. This needs to be filled in and sent to the PAGB distinction/awards officer, currently Leo Rich, with your cheque for which ever award you are applying for. Do not send any prints yet! There are 2 assessment dates per year April and November. They usually assess about 30 applications at each session, if you're in the top 30 on the pile you're in, if not it goes on to the next assessment.
3, Your images will be called for when needed. So it gives some time to put together your strongest images. You do not have to attend the assessment day but most people do.
There, that was nice and easy! Really it's not complicated if any member wishes to apply and needs help contact Keith.
