NEW Rule Change. Maximum quantity allowed per each competition entry.
Downloadable/printable PDF if required Link :- Competition_Entry_Rule_Change.pdf

The committee have decided to implement the following rule change for the forthcoming season due to two factors, entry of digital projected images and the already high competition entry as shown from last year where we were always taking out the third print from each members entry and still ending up with too many for a comfortable competition evening.

This is now a maximum overall of 4 per member per competition entry (last year it was 6) with a maximum of 2 in any one section

Sections

Main Group                                                                            Max Entry

Colour prints                                                                            2

Monochrome Prints                                                                    2

Digital projected (Colour and Monochrome combined)                       2 (2 colour or 2 mono or 1 of each)

Intermediate Group

Colour prints                                                                            2

Monochrome prints                                                                    2

NOTE. The prints above will be judged together as one section like last year

Digital Projected (Colour and Monochrome combined)                       2 (2 colour or 2 mono or 1 of each)

DON’T FORGET YOU MUST NOT EXCEED A MAXIMUM TOTAL ENTRY OF 4 OVERALL.

Should there still be a high entry overall for a comfortable competition evening. No2 image in the digital projected section will be removed from each member as this has no cost implications (paper/ink etc.) for members. Should the entry still be high No2 entry may then be removed from the print sections depending on numbers.

Judging and awarding of placings.

We will be requesting judges to give a critique of each picture and either request it to be held back or not. After going through all that sections images the held back pictures will be presented again for viewing, from this selection the judge will select the placings, commended to first. If the judge decides to award the same placing to more than one image, as they feel each is equally worthy of that placing it is their prerogative and the placing points will be awarded to each picture. After all the placings have been awarded to pictures that have been held back the remaining held back pictures will be deemed to of been awarded a mark of 16. Any pictures that were not held back will be deemed to of been below the 16 points threshold.

Mount size

We have a rule of a maximum mount size of 20ins x 16ins which is changing to 500mm x 400mm. This is to bring us in line with a lot of external exhibition and competitions that stipulate that size as maximum. It is only 1/4ins smaller each way than 20in x 16ins. You can of course enter any smaller mount size you wish but we recommend the 500mm x 400mm size as it minimises the possibility of damage to your and others' pictures.

Keith will have precut 500 x 400 white core conservation mount board for sale from the first meeting onwards. He will also cut windows to the size you require (small charge), this will be a one week turnaround from one meeting to the next.
